Hola
Man that party we played Tuesday night was a blast. We had a good time and "The Oz" got naked and smeared icing all over himself. It was hella foogy on the way home and i almost hit a deer. It was seriously closer than i have ever been to hitting something like that. Chris and "The Oz" were sleeping in the back and when I slammed on the brakes they came sliding forward, needless to say they woke up. Then they acted out the wake-up sceen from Planes, Trains, and Auto Mobiles. It was pretty funny.
Tonight I went to dinner with Mom, Dad, Sister and nieces. Those girls will wear you out. They have soo much energy and unbridled enthusiam about life. We played cars, we colored, we read books, we entertained ourselves with flashlights for 30 minutes. We sang the song from Lion King. We watched veggie-tales. These kiddos were still going strong when it was time to go and I'm about to fall asleep. I belive that my Mom and Dad are even coming to the Cd release party. They don't make it to many, but they try to make the big ones. They are big supporters of my quest to live a dream. I've got a great family. I got lucky because I get all of them and they just get me. ;)

New Song up
Alright ladies and gentlemen the 4th song off the Cd is now up at www.monkeyshyne.com and www.myspace.com/monkeyshyne so go give it a listen. As you know we usually have one good love song on each CD. All of those had been sung by "The Oz"(his new name). Well this time Mr. Chris decided he was sick of "The Oz" singing all the love songs so they got in a naked indian leg wrestling match and Chris won. So he got to sing the new love song. "The Oz"(wow this new name of his is annoying to type) acted as cool as Fonzie but I could see he was a little hurt. But then Chris said he could sing on the chorus with Chris and "The Oz" was happy agian. Enough about how it came to be just give it a listen so you can sing along on the 4th. See you there.

Food For Thought
We are your local bands. We aren't famous, rich, or particularly good looking. You haven't seen us on MTV, heard us on the radio, or read about us in magazines. Despite that, night after night, we bring the rock, we bring the funk, we bring the groove, and we bring the soul. Whatever music you are into, there is probably a band playing that music right now with an empty spot on the dance floor waiting for you.
You don't even have to pay 50 dollars to see us in a stadium from the nosebleed seats. For a mere five dollar cover you can go to a local bar, see the real musicians up close, you can even shake our hands after our set if you so choose. Unlike the clowns on MTV, we ARE real people, scraping by, just like you.
Just think about it, next time you are sitting at home on a Tuesday night watching Fear Factor reruns, just remember that there is a better way. Go down to the nearest live music venue. See what is going on, we might pleasantly surprise you.
Sincerely,
Your Local Bands
i got this off a post on myspace and i think it pretty much sums it up. food for thought

Tonight
Tonight we are hosting an open mic at the Art bar in Deep Ellum on the corner of Main and Crowdus, right across the street from Liquid Lounge. So what do you get from a night like this? You get Us playing a lot of songs and other friends and musicians coming up and jamming a song or two by themselves and some with us. What does that mean to you? That mean we will consume large amounts of alcohol and have a good time. If you happen to be bored come out tonight and help us pay our respects to the Jaeger gods. See you tonight.

The new Song
Ok we finally got song number #3 on myspace. We were having technical issuses. It is now on http://www.myspace.com/monkeyshyne so give it a listen. This is first cover that we have ever recorded. "Happy Together" by the Turtles. The more famous versions are the original by the Turtles, and the great 70's rockers captain and Tennel(spelling?). Now our version is a bit different. I do have to give credit for the arrangement, it was all Little Colins(our old bassist) doing. We have been playing this one a long time and have made it our own and were proud of it. So enjoy the song and see you on the 4th.
Helping out a Friend
Tonight, Brandon Rice, formally of Oddibe and good friend of mine new band is playing tonight at Liquid Lounge in Deep Ellum. They start at 9:30 and they could really use the support. This is their first show and if they pull a decent crowd then they will be invited to play there agian. This is a starting point for alot of band so any of you guys that can make it that would be great. It is cheap cover, and alot of good bands. I will be down there tonight so I hope to see some people out there. Hope everyone had a great Valentines day.

Good Practice
We had a great practice today. Our surprise guest bassist for the CD release party came to practice today. We picked the songs for the CD release party. It is nice hearing the bass. Even better there is a rumor that we might even pull out an electric guitar.(This rumor is unconfined and monkeyshyne takes no liability to the claim if it is found to be false)I have honestly never been more exited about a particular show than I am about this one. I can't really explain it. I look forward to every show but some are more special than others. This one holds a lot of special meaning. My only fear is that I have built this show up in my head so big. This is a hometown show. All I ask is that if your a fan please come support us for the CD release party. We have busted our ass entertaining fans all over but when you come home to a big show like this, you really need that huge crowd of fans that know and enjoy the music. When we play Dallas is it like we are revitalization ourselves so we can keep driving all over and playing. I really want everyone to bring everyone you know to this party. Once again the best part about it is it's not downtown. Free parking only $5 cover and you leave with a free CD. Ok enough about the show for now but I can't help it I'm exited. Peace Love and Duct Tape

The Edge Morning Show Announced

Looks like the powers-that-be over at The Edge decided on a natioinally syndicated morning show team rather than re-staffing locally....hmmm...Beginning Tuesday, February 14th Lex & Terry will host the morning slot.
Below is lifted right off their website
"The Lex & Terry Show, a nationally syndicated morning radio program, delivers a unique blend of lifestyle advice, humor and on-air community to men 18-49. Irreverent hosts Lex Staley and Terry Jaymes have grown the show in four short years from a single market in Jacksonville, Fla., into a thriving network spanning more than 25 cities. The program’s formula, which has hit a chord with men seeking lifestyle advice and camaraderie, has galvanized a loyal fan base that propels the show’s continued growth."
"As successful entertainers and businessmen, Lex and Terry have developed a proven strategy to penetrate new, often challenging markets and generate profits for affiliates. By focusing on localized content, network-wide audience involvement and top quality production, The Lex & Terry Show combines the best aspects of local and nationally syndicated programming. In addition, both hosts commit considerable effort to community and charitable activities throughout the affiliate markets."
"The show’s ability to rapidly turn around a ratings-deprived station has made them an especially attractive buy in many markets. The Lex & Terry Show has delivered strong returns for affiliates across the country, from Florida to the state of Washington."
This should be interesting to watch...

Superbowl
Ok now i was going for the Steelers because i'm a jerome bettis fan. I was very disapointed by the game. Three really bad calls, all for touchdowns. On top of the bad game the commercials sucked. The only one that made me laugh my ass off was the cell phone phone commercial with the anti-theft deterant. When the dude was bragging about his cell phone and said it had anti-theft deterent. He told the dude to try to take his wallet then when he did he threw his cell phone at the dude and knocked him over. That was a funny. Now I will start to go through Football withdraws until August. This week we have a meeting to finalize the planning for the CD release party and man i'm telling you its going to be huge. We have put soo much work into not just the cd but the party as well.
