Jonny rocks

Ok this past weekend we played in Wichata Falls at the S-Lounge(aka sho-gun) During the day it is a great Sushi/Steak house filled with Hibatchi Chefs. At night it turns into a huge live music party club with all the trimmings. Hot young ladies, lots of alcohol, good music, great friends and lots of dancing. I must admit this is now one of my favorite place to play. They feed us before the show and I'm not talking about regular food oh no. They hook it up with filet mingon, lobster, sushi, and all the jager and red bull we can drink. Then after the best meal I have ever had in my life I get to play for 3 hours. Life doesnt get much better than this folks. So this is my ode to the best Chef and party guru, Jonny.

Space alien raped my Weed Eater, reveals Mexican Musician!

Mexican musician Oscar Hernandez watched in shock and disbelief as a space alien snatched the Weed Eater out of his work truck and made mad, passionate love to it!
"It wasn't a pretty sight," declared Hernandez, who said the drama unfolded when a bullet-shaped UFO appeared directly in front of his truck as he drove along an isolated dirt road near his home in Dallas, causing him to swerve into a field. The musician said he was still behind the wheel -- his truck engine dead -- when a ramp folded out of the starship's belly. A space alien with big eyes, pointed ears and long arms trotted off the ramp.
"He ran straight over to my truck, hopped in the back and started throwing tools around like he was looking for something," said Hernandez. "When he finally got to the Weed Eater he made a gasping noise and pulled it close to his chest. The next thing I know he had it on the ground. There was no question what he was doing."
Hernandez says the alien "cuddled" with the machine for two or three minutes before he returned to his UFO and vanished over the horizon. Police Capt. Hal Livingston said detectives investigated but could find no evidence that a starship had landed.
"That doesn't mean that an extraterrestrial didn't try to mate with his Weed Eater," said the cop. "It just means we can't prove it."

Mark Cuban is a Genius!!!!!!
04/20/2006
By DAVID KOENIG / Associated Press
American Airlines took a page out of Oprah Winfrey's playbook Wednesday night and gave vouchers for free flights to everyone at the Dallas Mavericks' final game of the regular season.
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and American executive Dan Garton announced the giveaway to an estimated 19,000 fans between the first and second quarters. Fans jumped to their feet and cheered.
Garton, American's executive vice president of marketing, declined to say how much the promotion will cost the airline. Its parent company reported Wednesday that it lost $92 million in the first three months of the year.
A television contest also gave home viewers the chance to win an additional 1,000 vouchers. If every fan at the game plus those at home redeem the vouchers, they could have a face value of more than $3 million, based on the average $79 one-way fare on American's Love Field service.
Garton, however, said the cost would be much less, partly because not everyone will use the vouchers. He also said some people with vouchers will bring along a paying companion.
The gesture came on "Fan Appreciation Night" at the American Airlines Center, but it had more to do with American's fight with Southwest Airlines Co. for supremacy in local air travel.
Southwest has long dominated Love Field in Dallas. American resumed service there last month, flying to Austin, San Antonio, St. Louis and Kansas City, but the planes are flying only 50 to 60 percent full.
The free roundtrip tickets are restricted to flights that depart or arrive at Love Field. There are no blackout dates, but reservations are required seven days in advance and the tickets must be used by November.
"It's a big promotion for us," Garton said. "It's worth a lot if we get 20,000 people to fly on those flights."
Garton said some of Wednesday night's fans might have been planning to fly on Southwest but will use the American vouchers instead.
"This is not desperation," he said. "It's just aggressive competition."
Cuban was asked how the giveaway by American, a unit of AMR Corp., compared to Winfrey's gift of automobiles to the studio audience at one of her shows.
"How many did she give away?" he asked. "This is 20,000 people."
A spokesman for Southwest Airlines could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday night.

That's it Im Lead Singer now

Ok after the Chris situation started it got me soul searching. There is a lot of things as a musician that I want to accomplish in my career. I have been on the radio, TV, newspapers and such. I have had the opportunity to play in front of thousands of people. Got to play with Los Lonely Boys. Got to tour all over the great lone star state. All of this I have been able to do because of my drum playing. Well I'm sick of sitting down banging on stuff. I am destined to be the next lead singer of Monkeyshyne. We tried it out a couple times and it seems to fit. So if Chris decides to stick around he will be playing drums cause I'm the new singer.

Want to help Spread the Shyne??
OK fellow Shyneheads, we’re looking for dedicated promotion people in a city near you! Especially cities like Dallas, Denton, Temple, Tyler, and Wichita Falls but if you think your city’s not complete without a local Shynehead chapter, we can relate. Now, with you being the self-starting mastermind we know you are, we feel confident you’ll know what to do, but just in case here are the details: We’ll have flyers and posters on our dedicated website for the Spread the ‘Shyne promo team members free for download. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to go to the site, download the information, hang the posters, and hand out the flyers, oh yea, and tell everyone you meet about Monkeyshyne.
Now you might be asking, what’s in for me, and that’s a great question.First off, all promo team members will receive free advanced copies of new CD’s as well as discounted merchandise. How can you refuse an offer like that, but wait, there’s more! We’ve decided to take it to the limit, oh yea, one more time!. For every flyer you download, print , hand out and get returned at the flyer’s stated show you will receive credit for that person by simply putting your initials in the specified location on the flyer before you hand it out. When that someone brings in the flyer and puts it in our new flyer box located at our merchandise table your job is done and that’s when the big bucks start rolling in.. Now, I know you’re thinking credit, what am I going to do with credit? And have we got an answer for you, every 3 months we’ll add up your totals and see who got the most people to bring in their initialed flyers, and the top producer wins a prize of unimaginable proportion. So, now you’re saying to yourself three months, that’s a long time! Well, you’re right, what’s wrong with us, we must have gone mad or something but remember, three months gives you roughly 3 shows to accumulate your numbers and that’s where your dedication and devotion come in to play. The first shynehead to achieve the top producer prize will get an IPOD shuffle loaded with more Monkeyshyne songs than you can shake a stick at. We haven’t decided on the next prize yet so if you guys have any suggestions on what tantalizes your heart’s desire , please let us know via email at spreadtheshyne@yahoo.com.
Now that your intrigue is peaked and you can barely contain yourself as well you can’t wait to get started, here’s how you do: Add us to your friends list on myspace then check out the new promo team page at myspace.com/spreadtheshyne and sign up for the adventure of a life time with Monkeyshyne
Much Love,
Colin
p.s. we also have a great map to help track people here it is at http://www.frappr.com/spreadtheshyne

You will be missed Chris

If you guys read Chris's blog it seems that the end of the monkeyshyne era with Chris is upon us. This is a very sad day since Chris and I have been playing together for over 7 years. I know that he has been to numerous therapists trying to work out his anger issues to no avail. Luckily his wife is able to keep him in line. We asked her if she would escort us to all of our shows to keep Chris is line but she has her own life and said that she couldnt make that kinda commitment so it loks like Graham will be replacing Chris. He is not quite the guitarist or singer that Chris is but he can breath heavy better than anybody I have ever heard before. I hope that one day Chris will come to his sences and realize what we have. He did promise to finish out playing April and May since we already had all theose shows booked. So if you want to see monkeyshyne with Chris then you better make the couple of shows. Maybe if you all come out we can convince him to stay. If we all show Chris lots of love with hugs and Jager we might be able to talk him into staying. Let me thank you in advance for your help to keep monkeyshyne together.

Look what i found

Report...This just in....There seems to be trouble in the monkeyshyne compound. This picture was spotted on the internet by someone in this office. Monkeyshyne was contacted by our people and their publicists only offered that they were merely working out a new dance move. They also deny the report that Chris has become very hostile as of late. We interviewed his high school girlfriends and they said Chris is TNT without a fuse. Once again Monkeyshyne's publicists declined to admit these allegations were true. They state that even though Chris can appear "scary" he is merely a very hairy teddy bear. We will be watching this story closely and will keep you up to date as soon as there is a change in their position.

Jagger is back
That is right Jagger formally of the EDGE is now on Live 105.3. His new show is on from 9-noon mon-fri. Jagger is an old friend of ours and we were asking just then other day where he would end up and wahla he found a new home. My favorite radio station is 105.3. Now maybe I shouldn't be saying that since I'm trying to get a job from Clear Channel. So Jagger it's good to have you back.

Wish me luck
I had an interview today at Clear Channel radio for a job in promotions. I feel that the interview went really well. It was however a little different. Ok imagine a conferance room with 20 people sitting in a circle. They would ask a question and the go around the room one at a time we would answer. It took a total of maybe hour hour and a half. The head of the promotion departments for the respective stations were all there. Now I just have to wait and see if they thought I would be a good man for their station and hopefully I'll get a call back next week for a face to face second interview. Wish me luck. Well it's off to Tyler tommorow. Good times.

Omg Flashback
Oh man first off we had a great weekend. The other guys blogged on it so i didn't think i needed to also. Ok i went though a bunch of old ass boxes that i hadn't looked in since i moved like 3 years ago and guess what i found. Yep alot of old monkeyshyne tapes from like 6 years ago. These tapes we recorded in our rehearsal studio and wow, we used to be soooo much heavier. I'm listen to the old old stuff when we like a creedleback band. I also found a demo on tape from my first real band in high school, Steele Talon. Talk about some major flashbacks. I guess during every journey sometimes you have to look back in the past to see how far you really have come. By listening to the old monkeyshyne stuff i realized how far we have come. We used to play anywhere we could get a gig. Thursday nights in some shit hole in dallas. Now we tour Texas on a regualar basis and we deffintley get paid alot more than we used to. As musicians we have all improved ten-fold. We have come a long way and we have a long way left to go. I do want to thank everyone for all the support you have giving us over the years. Now let's look towards the future.
